The year 2014 could begin as a nightmare for many car buyers in India. Most of the leading car manufacturers and sellers in India are on the verge of increasing the prices of their entire range of cars from January 2014. It was first the turn of luxury sedan car manufacturers from Germany, Audi India, BMW India and Mercedes Benz India to announce a price hike of cars from January 2014 in India. This was followed by Maruti Suzuki India Limited and Hyundai Motors India Limited, announcing their plans to increase the price of their entire portfolio during the commencement of the next year. Now, the last leading car manufacturer in India to join this bandwagon is Tata Motors. Tata Motors has announced that it would be increasing the prices of its entire range of passenger cars by one percent. So, all cars manufactured and sold by Tata Motors right from Nano to Aria will see an increase its selling price from January 1, 2014.
Tata Motors is currently going to a rough phase as far as sales of passenger cars are concerned. The sales have dropped by 39 percent in the month of November 2013 when compared to previous November’s sales. Tata is thinking of increasing the price of its cars from July this year in order to slightly negate the losses it is suffering due to the volatility of the rupee and the increasing input costs. Now, Tata Motors is hoping that the increase in the prices of its entire range of cars does not see even further drop in its car sales.
